ISLAMABAD, SEP 8 (DNA): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday assured Pakistan’s full support for further strengthening bilateral relations with Italy, particularly in agriculture, information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), industry, textiles and people-to-people contacts.
The prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with newly appointed Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Ugo Ciarlatani here at the Prime Minister’s House, a news release said.
Welcoming the Italian envoy, the prime minister said Pakistan and Italy enjoyed excellent bilateral relations. He conveyed his best wishes to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and recalled his previous meetings with her. He also expressed pleasure over her completing four years in office, making her Italy’s longest-serving leader.
Prime Minister Shehbaz assured the ambassador of Pakistan’s continued cooperation to further strengthen bilateral ties across areas of mutual interest.
Ambassador Ugo Ciarlatani thanked the Prime Minister for the meeting and expressed his commitment to working for further promotion and consolidation of relations between Pakistan and Italy during his tenure. He also assured close cooperation with the Pakistani government in all areas of mutual interest.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch were also present.=DNA
