‘Terrorists’ carry out attack in heart of Ankara

ISLAMABAD, OCT 01 (DNA) — Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting the Ministry of Internal Affairs of brotherly Türkiye earlier on Sunday.  “Pakistan resolutely stands with Türkiye in its fight against the scourge of terrorism,” the foreign office spokesperson said.

“We are confident that with their characteristic grit and determination, the Turkish nation will defeat this menace and emerge ever stronger,” she said in a statement.  Meanwhile, in a post on X, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has strongly condemned the dastardly terrorist attack in Ankara on Sunday.

He said Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with its Turkish brothers and sisters in the fight against the scourge of terrorism. The Prime Minister said he has no doubt that under the dynamic leadership of brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the resolute Turkish nation will emerge ever stronger from this challenge.

“We stand in complete solidarity with our Turkish brothers and sisters in the fight against the scourge of terrorism. I have no doubt that under the dynamic leadership of my brother (President Recep Tayyip Erdogan), the  resolute Turkish nation will emerge ever stronger from this challenge,” the Prime Minister remarked.

Separately, in a press release shared by PM Office Media Wing, the prime minister extended sympathies of the Pakistani nation to the people of brotherly country Turkiye. He also prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Strongly condemning the terror attack near parliament in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, former prime minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that he, on behalf of the people of Pakistan, showed his solidarity with the government and people of Turkey.

In a tweet posted on X, Shehbaz wrote: “I strongly condemn the terrorist attack near the Turkish Parliament in Ankara. Our prayers are with the injured police officers for a swift recovery and the safety of our Turkish brothers and sisters. The people of Pakistan express unwavering solidarity with the citizens and government of Türkiye.”

In a statement, Shehbaz said he thanked the Almighty Allah that not many lives were lost in the incident. “Terrorists are enemies of the entire mankind,” he said, and stressed the need for making collective efforts to eliminate terrorists and their handlers.

He appealed to the United Nations and the Security Council to consider taking action against such people. “There is a need to investigate as to who is behind these bombings,” he emphasized.    Former prime minister also appealed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to help the Muslim world chalk out a strategy to deal with the scourge of terrorism.

He was of the view that a special pattern could be noticed in recent terror attacks that had taken place in different parts of the world. “The murder of a Sikh leader in Canada is an instance of how a state patronizes such horrific incidents,” Shehbaz concluded.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have also condemned the terrorist attack in the Turkish capital Ankara. Asif Ali Zardari urged the world to unite to end terrorism, stating that terrorists were a threat to world peace. He also expressed solidarity with the government and the people of Turkey.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the terrorist incident in the Turkish capital Ankara. “The incident of terrorism near the Turkish Parliament and Foreign Ministry office in Ankara is worrying,” he said.

“The people of Pakistan stand with the Turkish people and the government at this time [of difficulty],” he added. “The thought of terrorism can be defeated through the best strategy with strong determination and courage,” he stated.

“The world will have to continue its struggle against subversive thinking until the end of the last terrorist,” he stressed. “The people of Pakistan and Turkey are bound in a strong bond of history. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto along with former Turkish prime minister Tansu Ciller visited the affected area wearing a bulletproof vest during Serbian shelling and gave a message of peace,” he pointed out.

“The people of Pakistan and Turkey have to move forward with this strong message of peace and fight terrorism,” he emphasised. According to Turkish government officials, two terrorists carried out an attack in front of interior ministry buildings in Ankara, one died in the explosion and the other was neutralised. — DNA
