ISLAMABAD, JUL 09 (DNA) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the campaign on social media regarding the assassination attack on Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir.
In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the same kind of thinking was done for May 9 Black Day. He said he wanted to give a clear message to the planners, facilitators and handlers of the May 9 tragedy that government would crush all conspiracies against Pakistan and its institutions.
He said that the vile, wicked and malicious media campaign against the army chief and the army is the result of the planning of the evil mind. He said that the conspiratorial minds and elements were once again active against political and economic stability in the country.
The new media campaign of the dirty campaigners against the martyrs is part of the same plan, he added. Prime Minister Shehbaz directed the relevant institutions to take legal action against such media campaigners at home and abroad.
He said that the media campaign against the army and its chief did not fall under the category of freedom of expression, ‘it is only a conspiracy which is a legal duty to prevent with full force’. The prime minister said that the nation would foil this heinous conspiracy in the same way as it foiled the conspiracy of civil war in the country on May 9.
“We will not allow the desperate elements to create a new crisis in the country out of their desperation and despair, God willing. The nation stands by its army and its head,” PM Shehbaz maintained. Separately, on his Twitter handle, the prime minister said that Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan continued to engage in a vile, sinister and malicious campaign against COAS General Syed Asim Munir.
“His trick of using the proxies to threaten the Army Chief of an assassination attempt has been badly exposed. After his methodically planned attack on the State symbols failed, he is clearly desperate & wants to coerce his way back into power, little knowing that the time of his politics of intimidation, violence & hatred is over.
Through such highly condemnable antics, he is only exposing himself, the core of which is defined by putting his personal interest (power grab) over everything else. The people of Pakistan and the political parties stand behind their Army Chief & the armed forces like a rock & will thwart any attempt and conspiracy at undermining their prestige, honour and integrity,” he said. — DNA
