PML-N, IPP exchange views on country’s political situation, seat adjustment

LAHORE, DEC 08 (DNA) — Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) leaders Jahangir Tareen and Aun Chudhary met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif and discussed the seat adjustment formula.

During the 45-minute meeting, both leaders discussed political situation and seat adjustment. PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah and Ayaz Sadiq and IPP’s Aon Chaudhary were also present. The politicians exchanged views on the country’s political situation, upcoming general elections and seat adjustment.

It was decided in the meeting that the PML-N will decide seat adjustment formula after due consultation with the top leaders. The sources disclosed the seat adjustments will be made on both national and provincial assemblies’ seats.

Expressing her thoughts, IPP Spokesperson Firdous Ashiq Awan hoped the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will take notice of the intra-party polls. “The PTI intra-polls are against the constitution and law,” Firdous added. “The ECP should take strict action against the PTI over the intra-party polls,” she said.

Firdous talked about the appointment of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as the PTI chairman. “The appointment of Barrister Gohar as the PTI chief without any process is against the party’s manifesto and democratic traditions,” she lamented.

Firdous said, “It is unacceptable to see the holding of the so-called PTI intra-party polls, which reflects the worst example of dictatorship.”  It is pertinent to mention that PML-N was in talks with various political parties across the province for seat adjustments. — DNA
