ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee expressed no confidence on Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Amir Farooq, demanding his recusal in cases related to PTI Founding Chairman Imran Khan.

Addressing a press conference after the PTI Core Committee meeting here on Monday, PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan said that important decisions were taken in the meeting including formation of a committee to cooperate with the families of women languishing in jails for the last 12 months, the IMF agenda regarding restoration and revival of Pakistan’s economy and other issues.

He said that PTI Core Committee expressed serious reservations over the conduct of IHC chief justice, who heard all cases of Imran Khan despite their concerns.

Raoof stated that the forum once again requested justice Aamir Farooq that he should not become part of any bench hearing cases of PTI Founding Chairman in future.

He pointed out that that the PTI Core Committee was very concerning about the snail pace of hearing the cases against Imran Khan, adding that the government was making all-out efforts to further slow the pace of hearing of his cases so as to delay the decisions.

Moreover, Raoof said that they decided to register FIRs against Rana Sanaullah and Marriyum Aurangzeb, adding that some people attempted to file an FIR on Monday but police obstructed them.

He made it clear that if the police did not change its attitude, they would move the respective courts in this regard.

Raoof went on to say that the forum voiced concerns over the new IMF bailout package deal, which, he said, would trigger a tsunami of inflation because of its harsh conditionalities, demanding the government to take immediate steps to provide much-needed relief to the inflation-weary people.

PTI CIS said that it was decided that PTI parliamentarians would stage a sit-in outside Adiala Jail and would hold oath taking ceremony so as to highlight the injustice treatment being meted out with Imran Khan, who unlawfully incarcerated in false and fabricated cases.

He stated that PTI Core Committee strongly denounced the ongoing propaganda against two prominent PTI leaders in the United States Sajjad Burki and Atif Khan and expressed full solidarity with them.

Raoof Hasan said that the forum condemned the unwarranted interference in the affairs of Aitchison College by Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman ordering the principal to waive the fees of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema’s sons due to which a well-respected and well-reputed Principal Michael A Thompson resigned in protest.
