ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the mandate thief government’s heavy-handed approach and coercive measures aimed at compelling party lawmakers to switch loyalties, demanding the Supreme Court (SC) to ensure implementation of its historic judgement and should take notice of the abduction and harassment of PTI MPs and its relatives.
Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, flanked by PTI MNAs Atif Khan, Sheikh Waqas, and PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan, strongly denounced the abductions of PTI MNA Sahibzada Ameer Sultan, Rizwan Malik, and other PTI social media activists and their family members, including Mian Fayyaz Ahmad Chajra’s son Mian Tajamal Hussain and brother Mian Imtiaz Hussain.
Gohar stated that the level of barbarism could be gauged by the fact that the kidnapped son’s screams were heard by his mother, in an attempt to break her and force Fayyaz to change his loyalty.
He blasted the government for the rearrest of Sanam Javid and Bushra Bibi, demanding their immediate release along with all other innocent prisoners.
Gohar stated that Bushar Bibi was rearrested in Thoshakhana case just to break Imran Khan, as she had nothing to do with the case altogether.
PTI Chairman hailed the SC’s historic decision on reserved seats, which he said would strengthen democracy and the judicial system. However, he urged the apex court to ensure the implementation of its decision and warn those attempting to obstruct it.
Gohar revealed that 25 independent MNAs had submitted their affidavits to join PTI, while the remaining would submit by Monday (today) and the ECP should upload their candidate list and issue reserved seats instantly.
He emphasized that PTI remained united despite adversarial circumstances, enjoying 70% public support due to Imran Khan’s 27-year-long political struggle.
Gohar urged the SC to fix PTI’s petition against abductions and ensure the release of kidnapped individuals.
PTI Chairman, on behalf of Pakistani nation and PTI, strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former President of the United States.
“We express our good wishes for the health and safety of Donald Trump and other injured individuals. There is no room for armed and violent actions in democracy,” he added.
He went on to say that as the most popular and representative party of the people of Pakistan, PTI was the flagbearer of peace, dialogue, and reason, as any attack on fundamental human rights, constitution, and law in any corner of the world was an attack on democracy and its global existence.
“Our sympathies and good wishes are with the people of the United States, as PTI is committed to peaceful and democratic politics,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Atif Khan emphasizing that the country must be governed in accordance with the law and constitution, and that reliance on brute force, coercion, and harassment would only lead to a surge in barbarism. He warned that the forces of brutality should recognize that the current PTI elected representatives have endured immense struggles to reach their positions, and that the old tactics of brutality and fascism would no longer be effective, as the people would no longer tolerate such barbarism.
On the occasion, Sheikh Waqas recalled that following the May 9 false flag operation, a reign of terror was unleashed to force defections, with even children being abducted to coerce loyalty. He urged the Chief Justices of the SC and Lahore High Court to take notice of these kidnappings and ensure the swift release of the victims.
Sheikh Waqas demanded that the Speaker of the National Assembly, as the guardian of the house, take immediate action against this brutality, as the country could no longer afford to proceed in such a manner. He lamented that the non-representative government’s inhumane acts, including kidnapping and intimidation, sent a negative message to the world amidst financial crisis. The PTI MNA stated that PML-N had ruined the political and social fabric of society, and thus, the cruel practices of harassment, intimidation, and kidnapping for forced defections must end
On the occasion, Raoof Hasan stated that the Supreme Court’s historic decision not only identified the crime but also exposed the perpetrators; therefore, it is high time to punish the criminals, their abettors, and those who enabled them. The PTI Central Information Secretary demanded that those responsible for imposing and nurturing these criminals should be held accountable, as they have unleashed a wave of terror in the country over the past two years.
He reiterated his party’s demand to try the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) under Article 6 for conducting the most fraudulent elections in the country’s history. PTI CIS stated that these criminals prioritized personal interests over the state’s interests, bringing the country to the brink of collapse. Raoof Hasan made it clear that they would not let the criminals who unleashed a reign of terror sleep peacefully.
