RCCI delegation calls on Commissioner Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi:  A delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) led by President Saqib Rafiq called  on Commissioner Rawalpindi Saqib Manan in his office here on Monday. The group leader and former President RCCI Sohail Altaf, senior vice president Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, vice president Faisal Shehzad, former presidents Najam Rehan and Asad Mashhadi were included in the delegation.

During the meeting, the development projects of the city, especially the Rawalpindi Economic Corridor (Ring Road), Industrial Estate Rawat, beautification of markets and bazaars, Widening of Kacheri Chowk, encroachment and traffic issues were discussed.

Commissioner Rawalpindi Saqib Manan congratulated the newly elected officials on assuming office.

The commissioner assured all kinds of support and assistance and said that an operation will be started soon to eliminate encroachments. He said that Peshawar road will be signal free. He also welcomed the RCCI suggestions related to the developmental projects and added that Rawalpindi Chamber will also be included in the committee to oversee the progress on development projects including Ring Road.

RCCI President Saqib Rafiq briefed the commissioner on the ongoing activities of the chamber.

He said that the project of widening Kachhari Chowk shall be started at the earliest as this will improve the traffic flow. A permanent solution should be found for the encroachments, he added. While emphasizing on construction of parking plazas he suggested that proposed sites for these parking plazas are Bani Chowk, Commercial Market, Committee Chowk, Old Tehsil Dar Office Liaquat Road. Anti-encroachment drives should be started in various bazaars and markets of the city. He also invited the Commissioner to visit the chamber.
