MOSCOW: Sergey Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, has traveled to Saudi Arabia to participate in a meeting with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

According to international media reports citing Russian officials, the meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 9, in Riyadh’s Saudi capital. The session will include the foreign ministers from the GCC member states and Russia.

The main discussion topics will include implementing joint projects, closer economic and trade cooperation, joint investments, and nuclear energy. Additionally, the meeting will address issues concerning West Asia, including the situation in Palestine and developments in Syria, Yemen, and Libya.

This meeting follows a similar one in 2022 when GCC foreign ministers and the Russian foreign minister held a session in Moscow.

This high-level meeting highlights the growing strategic partnership between Russia and the GCC countries. The discussions are expected to advance cooperation on various fronts, reflecting the evolving geopolitical dynamics in the region and the mutual interests in addressing regional and global challenges.
