ISLAMABAD, OCT 3: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday dispelled rumours about forming a new political party. Speaking to private TV following his meetup with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in London, Abbasi said, ‘’I only talk about forming the new party, but I did not make one’’.
‘’There is a dire need to compensate for the injustices that happened with Nawaz Sharif. I have had an association with Nawaz Sharif for the last 35 years. I and Nawaz Sharif exchanged views on the country’s political situation,” he added.
Expressing his thoughts in line with welcoming former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Abbasi said, ‘’I don’t believe in welcoming. I was not part of the meeting that consulted on the return of Nawaz Sharif.’’
He recalled the events that transpired on May 9, saying, ‘’It is up to the government to bring the responsible of the May 9 mayhem to justice”.
Regarding the prime ministership, Abbasi said: ‘’If the PML-N is voted into power, it will be up to the party to pick up the premier.’’
Abbasi made it clear that he had no reservations on any of the PML-N leaders.
– Premier for fourth time –
Last week, PML-N stalwart Mohammad Zubair said on Thursday that the party workers wanted to see Nawaz Sharif as the country’s premier for the fourth time.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Mr Zubair made it clear that the PML-N supremo’s return to the country was on October 21.
He said, “The journey of development in the country that ended in 2017 will be restarted again”.
