Wang Yi holds meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary in Beijing

BEIJING, Jan 27 (APP): Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Beijing on Monday.

Wang Yi said that since the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Modi in Kazan last year, the two sides have earnestly implemented the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, carried out active interactions at all levels, and accelerated the process of improving China-India relations, according to Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides should seize the opportunity, meet each other halfway, explore more substantive measures, and strive to understand, support and achieve each other, rather than be suspicious of each other, alienate each other, and consume each other, he added.

He said that the improvement and development of China-India relations are in full compliance with the fundamental interests of the two countries and their peoples, are conducive to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the countries in the global South, and are conducive to making contributions to the peace, stability, development and prosperity of the two ancient civilizations in Asia and the world.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said that India and China have carried out a series of beneficial dialogues and communications in accordance with the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in the Kazan meeting, properly managed and resolved differences, and promoted the restart of practical cooperation in various fields.

India is willing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with China and will fully support China’s work as the chair of the SCO, he added.
