Attock, FEB 10 /DNA/ – Governor Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, urged students to focus on building strong moral character along with academic excellence. He expressed these views while addressing the convocation ceremony of Riphah International College, Attock Campus, as the chief guest.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including CEO of Riphah International College Attock Campus, Sahibzada Ammar Hassan Qureshi, Principal Professor Sharif Zahid, Director Waqar Ahmed, Sahibzada Dr. Aftab Qureshi of Pirmiana Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party leader Sardar Ashar Hayat Khan, Malik Amanat Rawal, Sardar Haider Ali Khan, Malik Sher Khan Sadryal, Managing Director Rao Talash Badr, students, and esteemed guests.
In his address, Governor Punjab emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance in achieving success, stating that there is no substitute for diligence. However, he stressed that along with academic achievements, students must also cultivate strong moral values, as this defines a truly honorable individual. He commended Sahibzada Dr. Aftab Hassan Qureshi for his dedication to public service, which has significantly benefited the local community.
Governor Punjab acknowledged the challenges in acquiring modern education in Pakistan and appreciated the efforts of Riphah International College, Attock Campus, in facilitating underprivileged students by offering fee concessions and waivers. He lauded this initiative as a model worth emulating. He expressed his honor in attending the event, noting that it was his duty to be present, given that Attock is his home district.
He further praised the resilience and determination of the Pakistani nation, stating that Attock plays a crucial role in the country’s development. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the district, who have made immense sacrifices for national defense, and expressed pride in the Pakistan Army’s fallen heroes who have ensured the country’s security. He specifically honored the recent sacrifices of Havildar Saeed Iqbal, Sepoy Basit Ali, and Police Constable Muhammad Qadeer, who laid down their lives fighting terrorism and crime.
Governor Punjab emphasized that Pakistan’s foundations are cemented with the blood of its martyrs, and the people of Attock are known for their valor and patriotism. He highlighted the disparity in facilities available to the district, particularly in Jand, Pindigheb, and Fateh Jang, despite Attock’s proximity to Islamabad. He assured that he is making every effort to address these concerns and bring development to the region.
He announced that plans for establishing a medical college and the University of Attock are in progress. Additionally, a study center for UET Taxila has been set up in Jand, while PC-1 for UET Taxila’s Jand campus and Punjab University’s sub-campus in Fateh Jang has been completed and will soon be presented for approval in the provincial cabinet meeting. Furthermore, dialysis centers will be established in Fateh Jang and Pindigheb to enhance healthcare facilities.
Governor Punjab stated that he aims to introduce the public-private partnership model, successfully implemented in Sindh, to Attock to ensure improved public services. He also appreciated the dedication of Riphah International College CEO, Sahibzada Ammar Hassan Qureshi, for his continuous efforts in promoting quality education. He concluded the ceremony by distributing gold medals and certificates among successful students.
Later, Governor Punjab visited the District Jail Attock, where he was received by Superintendent Arif Shehzad Gill along with local leadership. During his visit, he inaugurated an automated bread-making plant, installed through his personal efforts and cooperation, and inspected newly completed tile work within the jail.
In response to a request from the Superintendent, he assured full support for the construction of a new mosque within the jail premises. Governor Punjab also visited the prison hospital, checked on the inmates’ well-being, and inspected various sections of the facility. Superintendent Arif Shehzad Gill provided a comprehensive briefing on administrative and operational matters.
Addressing the inmates, Governor Punjab urged them to reform themselves and contribute as responsible citizens upon their release.
