DUBAI, JAN 17: An International Cricket Council delegation failed to persuade Bangladesh to tour India. According to details that emerged on Saturday, a key meeting between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the ICC on Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has concluded. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally requested that its scheduled matches be shifted to Sri Lanka.
Moreover, the BCB placed before the ICC the concerns of the Bangladesh government regarding security. The meeting also considered a proposal to place Bangladesh in a different group for the tournament.
The BCB said the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with positive dialogue between the parties. Both sides agreed to continue discussions, the BCB said.
ICC representative Andrew Efragrave attended the meeting in person, while Gaurav Saxena joined online, according to the BCB.
The meeting was attended by senior BCB officials, including BCB president Aminul Islam.
