ISLAMABAD, JUN 2: A high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal was held to discuss the admission of Indonesian students to Pakistan’s medical institutions following a request from their government.
Acoording to ministry on Tuesday, the meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri through video link, while Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Dr. Rizwan Taj and the council’s registrar were also present.
Participants held detailed discussions on matters related to the admission of Indonesian medical students to Pakistani medical and dental institutions.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Indonesian government has requested admissions for its undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in quality medical colleges across Pakistan. The Indonesian government will bear all educational and residential expenses of the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said Indonesian students would be granted admissions to leading medical colleges in Pakistan through a transparent and merit-based process.
He said around 200 Indonesian medical and dental students would be provided world-class educational and training facilities in Pakistan, adding that the initiative would significantly strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of medical education.
Describing the development as encouraging, the minister said the Indonesian government’s preference for Pakistani institutions reflected growing confidence in the quality of medical education available in the country.
“This initiative will not only strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia but will also enhance Pakistan’s international standing,” Kamal said.
He added that Pakistani doctors were serving with distinction both at home and abroad, contributing to the country’s positive image and reputation in the medical field.
