Saudi Arabia reaffirms global security, stability support commitment

RIYADH, JUN 23: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by King Salman, on Tuesday reaffirmed the Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in the region and around the world.

The Cabinet also stressed Saudi Arabia’s role in responding to humanitarian appeals and providing assistance to those in need and affected by crises globally.

At the start of the session, the Cabinet was briefed on the contents of phone calls held by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as a message he received from Chechen Republic leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

The Cabinet praised Saudi Arabia’s progress in the 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook, in which the Kingdom ranked 13th globally and third among G20 countries. Saudi Arabia also improved across all major categories and ranked among the top 10 globally in 74 sub-indicators, a result the Cabinet said reflected the effectiveness of the Saudi model in competitiveness-related fields.

The Cabinet also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s retention of first place globally in the Cybersecurity Index for the third consecutive year, describing it as evidence of the Kingdom’s leadership in the sector. The achievement was attributed to progress made at the domestic, regional and international levels, as well as initiatives supporting digital transformation, technology localization and international cooperation.

Ministers praised the achievements of the Health Sector Transformation Program in building a more integrated and efficient healthcare system that places people’s health at the forefront. The program has focused on improving access to services, raising quality standards, expanding comprehensive healthcare, increasing the number of health cities and promoting preventive care and healthier lifestyles.

The Cabinet also noted the strong performance of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP) in 2025, saying it had strengthened its role in supporting non-oil economic growth, enhancing the attractiveness of industrial, mining and logistics sectors, and contributing to increased investment, exports and local content.

The Cabinet approved the executive regulations for Saudi Arabia’s law governing non-Saudi ownership of real estate, as well as the geographic areas in which foreigners will be permitted to own property.

Ministers also approved an initiative to design and build the first joint Saudi-Egyptian satellite.

The Cabinet further approved a memorandum of understanding on energy cooperation between Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

It also approved two labor cooperation agreements between Saudi Arabia and Nepal and Nigeria.
