According to the Department, the new platform is designed to provide a convenient and secure way for individuals to submit information about potential visa-related fraud for review and investigation. Authorities said public tips have played an important role in identifying visa fraud schemes, with many cases uncovered through information provided by concerned citizens.
The Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs is continuing efforts to strengthen fraud detection and prevention measures under the administration’s broader immigration and border security initiatives. Officials stated that the agency is focused on preventing individuals from entering the United States through fraudulent means or for unlawful purposes.
The State Department noted that visa fraud can take many forms, including the use of forged documents, false travel plans, sham marriages arranged by intermediaries, shell companies, fabricated job offers, and birth tourism schemes. Such activities, officials said, not only defraud the U.S. government but can also affect American workers, communities, economic interests, and national security.
The Department emphasized that it will continue enforcing U.S. immigration and visa laws, including revoking visas when appropriate and referring suspected fraud cases to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
Officials encouraged members of the public with credible information regarding visa fraud to use the newly launched online portal to help support ongoing enforcement efforts.
