President Zardari, PM Shehbaz meet

Islamabad: 1 October 2026 — President Asif Ali Zardari in a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with members of the federal and provincial cabinets and parliament, at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Both leaders discussed PTI long march and possible emergency or Governor Rule in KP province.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah, Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan, Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Tauqir Shah, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, and Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

During the meeting, concern was expressed regarding the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

While reviewing the national security situation, President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to further strengthen the national resolve against terrorism and ensure effective cooperation among all relevant institutions for the country’s peace and stability.

It was decided during the meeting that a joint delegation comprising representatives from the federal government and the PPP would meet the PTI leadership on Friday to hold talks on the current political situation.

This joint delegation will include Mohsin Naqvi, Rana Sanaullah, and Amir Muqam, as well as Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar, and Aijaz Jakhrani representing the PPP.
