ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (DNA):Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Tuesday urged a 51-member delegation of lawyers from Balochistan to translate their learning from the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme into improved legal practice, stronger professional ethics and more effective justice delivery, emphasising that strengthening public confidence in the justice system was a shared responsibility of the legal fraternity and judiciary.
The delegation of the Bar from Balochistan, participating in the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Programme at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Supreme Court premises here.
The delegates were nominated by the Balochistan Bar Council from across the Bar Associations of the province including Sohbatpur, Usta Muhammad, Pishin, Barkhan, Ziarat, Kalat, Turbat, Quetta, Noshki, Killa Saifullah, Zhob, Chaman, Khuzdar, Washuk, Loralai, Duki, Panjgur, Mastung, Basima, Jaffarabad, Sherani, Nasirabad and Sibi.
The Chief Justice warmly welcomed the participants and appreciated the FJA’s initiative to strengthen the professional capacity of lawyers through continuing legal education.
The Chief Justice encouraged them to pursue learning diligently, uphold professional ethics, and translate acquired knowledge into effective legal practice. Describing them as ambassadors of the FJA and the judiciary of Pakistan, he urged them to share their learning with fellow advocates and contribute towards strengthening public confidence in the justice system.
Highlighting progress in judicial infrastructure, the Chief Justice informed the participants that solarisation, e-libraries with internet connectivity, clean drinking water and women-centric facilities had been extended to judicial complexes, including Bar Rooms, across Pakistan under the Access to Justice Development Fund. The initiative has been substantially completed, with work remaining at only six judicial complexes due to technical issues.
The CJP encouraged the advocates to make optimal use of these facilities and benefit from the FJA’s online learning programmes and emerging technologies to enhance their professional competence.
Referring to the resilience of Pakistan’s justice system, the Chief Justice observed that the continued functioning of courts and delivery of justice under challenging circumstances reflects the strength and commitment of judicial institutions. He appreciated the dedication and steadfastness of judicial officers and members of the legal fraternity in upholding the rule of law.
