LAHORE, JAN 16 (DNA) — Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Sunday that the party had voted for the government-sponsored Supplementary Finance Bill (mini budget) in order to strengthen the country’s economy.

Speaking to Pakistani American Contractors’ Association President Khurshid Bhalli, he said now it was a golden opportunity for the government to take steps for the betterment of masses.

Ticket-holder for the provincial assembly Saeed Bhalli and Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti were also present on the occasion. He said that overseas Pakistanis were the ambassadors of Pakistan.

“This is precisely because of this reason that they have been given the right to vote. This will enable them to elect the candidates of their choice,” the speaker said. He, on the occasion, also appreciated the Pakistanis living in the USA for strengthening the ties between the two countries.

“US citizens of Pakistani origin are proactive as members of different legislatures of the country of their birth,” he said, and added, “Not only that every month they also send billions of dollars back home in remittances, which help sustain the country’s economy.”

Speaking on the occasion, Bhalli thanked Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for providing to the overseas Pakistanis the facility of bringing their dead back to Pakistan free of cost. “All Pakistanis living abroad are grateful to him and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for that,” he said. DNA
