CG Sun highlights “Pak-China security partnership”

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Consul General Lahore Sun Yan has emphasised China’s stance to establish a “China-Pakistan Security Partnership,” under the vision of military to military, collaboration, counter-terrorism cooperation and strengthen security measures in accordance with shared agreement between Pakistan and China. 

He expressed these views during a function of celebrations of 75th anniversary of Pak-China diplomatic relations organized by Chairman Institute of international relations and media research and  Foreign affairs expert Muhamad Mehdi at the residence of Mr.Muhammad Mehdi. 

In his speech, He said that both countries have agreed to expedite cooperation on infrastructure development, industrial growth, and connectivity initiatives under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), while also enhancing collaboration on regional and global affairs.

He reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s agricultural modernization by promoting advanced farming technologies and facilitating greater access for high-quality Pakistani agricultural products to the Chinese market.

“China also welcomed two Pakistani astronauts for specialized training and expressed its anticipation of seeing a Pakistani astronaut become the first foreign national to participate in an early mission aboard the China Space Station,” he added.

Highlighting the impact of bilateral cooperation, he noted that Pakistan-China collaboration spans numerous sectors, including agriculture, industry, technology, and vocational training. These partnerships have played a significant role in Punjab’s development by increasing agricultural productivity, creating employment opportunities, and improving livelihoods. As Pakistan’s agricultural heartland and industrial center, Punjab has been one of the major beneficiaries of CPEC’s early harvest projects and is expected to contribute further to strengthening the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations, he added.

“China reiterated its unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. It also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Pakistan to combat terrorism in all its forms, support Pakistan’s growing role in regional and international affairs, pursue shared development objectives, and uphold international law and multilateral principles,” he explained.

Reflecting on the longstanding friendship between the two countries, he stated that over the past 75 years, Pakistan and China have consistently supported one another through both challenging and prosperous times, building a bond often described as being “higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans.” This enduring friendship has been strengthened by history and remains vital for the future, he added.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed welcomed Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan, and emphasized that Pakistan-China friendship has remained steadfast and resilient regardless of changing regional or international circumstances.

Muhammad Mehdi highlighted the importance of Pak-China trade activities especially in the context of business to business cooperations. Under the strategic vision of both countries’ leadership, he said, Pakistan-China relations have evolved far beyond traditional diplomatic ties. Today, the relationship stands as an embodiment of lasting friendship, stable cooperation, and mutually beneficial engagement between nations with different cultures, civilizations, and social systems, he added.

Muhammad Mehdi said that that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent official visit to China provided additional opportunities for both countries to deepen cooperation and reach new understandings against cooperation on terrorism, respect for sovereignty, promotion of international law, and collaboration in regional and global affairs.

Speaking on occasion,  senior journalist Sohail Warriach and Salim Bukhari talked about cotton crop decline in Punjab and sought Chinese -technologies to help revive Pakistan’s crops glory. 

They described the occasion as both a milestone in the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and a new starting point for building an even closer community with a shared future.Senior journalists Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Hafeezullah Niazi, Safdar Ali Khan, members of the Punjab Assembly Imran Javed, Rana Rashid Minhas, Secretary Revenue Punjab Shafqatullah Mushtaq, President IIRMR Yasir habib khan and Amjad Shirazi Advocate, member of the Supreme Court Bar Executive Committee, also attended the program.
