PESHAWAR, MAR 14 /DNA/ – The European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Riina Kionka called on the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat khan at CPO Peshawar today.
Matters of mutual interest especially KP police professional affairs and projects of enhancing police capacity with the help of European Union came under discussion. The European Union Ambassador extended congratulation to Akhtar Hayat Khan on assuming the office of IGP and expressed best wishes for KP police under his dynamic leadership. The European Union Ambassador expressed her sorrow over the Peshawar police lines attack that claimed precious human lives. On the occasion a detailed briefing was given to the European Union Ambassador regarding the confronting challenges in maintenance of law and order and the police steps taken for its redressel. The IGP informed that KP police was playing front role against the terrorists and so far more than 2 thousands officers and jawans of every rank have sacrificed their lives in the war against terror. The IGP further briefed that attacks on the police force with modern gadgetries have increased after the withdrawal of allied forces from the neighboring country, especially the police are being targetted in southern districts. However, the IGP said that despite manifold challenges and difficulties the KP police was fighting and giving tough time to the terrorists. The IGP also informed that Thermal Imaging Cameras and sophisticated weapons are being provided to the police force to combat the terrorists armed with modern weapons. The IGP further went on to say that anti-terror financing unit has been established in CTD added that an automatic monitoring system would be installed to ensure supervision of money being used in terrorism. The IGP informed that police are more exposed to attacks due to peculiar nature of its duty. However, he said, that police despite being targetted neither abandoned any post nor showed retreat in the field. The IGP said that excellent working relationship exist amongst different Law Enforcing Agencies and the public was fully cooperating with the police force in the war against terror. The IGP said that the KP police valued the cooperation of the EU and hoped this cooperation will continue in future too.
The EU Ambassador Dr. Riine Kionka appreciated the role and sacrifices rendered by the KP police in the war against terror and the steps taken by the IGP for improving police performance. The members of the delegation also asked several questions in the light of the briefing. The IGP gave detailed answers to these questions. The EU Ambassador assured all possible cooperation to KP police in its support programme. Later on, the IGP presented commemorative police shields to the participants. The First Secretary Political of the EU Ms. Dilarde Tealin also included in the delegation. Additional IGP Headquarters, Additional IGP CTD, DIG Special Branch and DIG Finance were also present in the meeting.
Hindko translation of book “ambassador of light” arrived in market
PESHAWAR, March 13: Hindko translation of a book titled as `Ambassador of Light’ and penned by prominent businessman and Executive Member of Ghandhara Hindko Board Peshawar, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi has been arrived in market.
According to a press release issued here on Monday, the book has been published by Gandhara Hindko Board, an organization striving for promotion of regional languages especially Hindko.
General Secretary Ghandhara Hindko Board, Ziaud Din handed over the printed version of the book to Ziaul Haq Sarhadi during his visit to the office.
Speaking on the occasion, Ziaud Din termed Ambassador of Light has a good addition in Hindko literature.
The book, he continued, will not only prove beneficial for researchers on regional languages but would be also an interesting read for people associated with spirituality.
In the book, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi has thrown light on religious saints of sub-continent, spiritual personalities famous for their pious life and services for Islam.
The book Ambassador of light was originally published in Urdu and is now been translated into Hindko language.
