KARACHI, MAY 20 /DNA/ – Atif Farooqi, Advisor & Chief Operating Officer of Pakistan Romania Business Council, and Sohail Shamim Firpo, Chairman PRBC, called on Nehal Hashmi, Governor of Sindh, at the Governor House today and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, trade, and investment between Pakistan and Romania.
The meeting highlighted the growing potential for cooperation in maritime trade, logistics, agriculture, industry, and information technology. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained institutional engagement to unlock new opportunities for business-to-business collaboration and economic partnership.
Governor Hashmi appreciated Atif Farooqi’s longstanding efforts over the past 26 years in promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Romania and praised his contribution to building stronger commercial ties between the two countries. He also welcomed the efforts of the Pakistan–Romania Business Council in advancing trade diplomacy and private-sector cooperation.
Commenting on the recent KPT–Constanța Port MOU, Atif Farooqi said the agreement reflects the vision of H.E Dr. Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan and will help position Romania as a gateway to EU markets for Pakistan. He noted that the initiative will strengthen maritime connectivity, improve trade facilitation, and create new opportunities for exporters and importers on both sides.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen engagement and explore practical initiatives that can translate bilateral goodwill into tangible economic outcomes.
