ISLAMABAD – Sept 8: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of the recent missile and drone strikes launched by the Houthi militia against civilian and economic infrastructure in the Saudi Arabian cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran.
In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Islamabad described the assaults as “reprehensible” and a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Pakistani government warned that these attacks not only threaten the security of the Kingdom but also pose a significant risk to the peace and stability of the entire region.
“These attacks undermine efforts aimed at securing a peaceful and durable resolution of the conflict in Yemen,” the statement read.
Pakistan reiterated its “unwavering support” for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and prosperity of Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Office conveyed complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership, government, and the brotherly people of the Kingdom. Islamabad also extended its sincere wishes for the swift and full recovery of all individuals who were injured in the attacks.
Citing the United Nations Charter and international law, Pakistan affirmed its full support for the Kingdom’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to continuing all efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
The attacks on the Saudi cities, which targeted civilian sites, mark a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities amid ongoing peace negotiations concerning the Yemeni conflict.
