ISLAMABAD, May 9 (DNA):Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide to discuss the escalating regional situation following India’s recent cross-border attacks.
During the call, DPM/FM Dar informed his Norwegian counterpart about India’s illegal and unprovoked strikes on multiple cities across Pakistan, which resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives, including women, children, and the elderly. He emphasized that these acts constituted blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter, posing a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, noting that the country had shown considerable restraint in the face of aggression. He underlined that Pakistan remained fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating situation, Norwegian FM Eide offered his condolences on the civilian casualties and appreciated Pakistan’s measured response. He stressed the urgent need for de-escalation and the use of diplomatic channels to prevent further conflict.
The two ministers also reviewed bilateral ties, with FM Eide acknowledging the positive contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to Norwegian society. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation and stay closely engaged on the evolving regional developments.
