ISLAMABAD, OCT 18: The parliamentary committee approved on Friday the 26th constitutional amendment. According to details, the development came after the efforts were made to reach the consensus on the constitutional amendment.
The committee spearheaded by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah had now ended.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence has become the center stage in Pakistan’s political landscape ahead of the tabling of the all-important constitutional amendment at the parliament.
According to details, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had greeted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) bigwigs, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Omar Ayub, at Rehman’s residence in Islamabad.
Bhutto-Zardari had also shaken hands with Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and MWM leaderships.
Subsequently, the former foreign minister held a meeting with JUI-F supremo.
However, the joint meeting of Bhutto-Zardari with all the political parties did not happen.
Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hosted a luncheon in the honour of government senators. Sources divulged that PM Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari also held consultations over the proposed constitutional amendments.
Earlier on Thursday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman said: “We had rejected the initial draft, and even today we reject it.”
The constitutional amendment has reached consensus. The country and its constitution will only be saved by taking hard decisions,” he added.
Rehman called for the amendment, which will pave the way for bringing reforms in all the sectors.
“Yesterday, the PPP and JUI-F had almost agreed on the draft,” he said.
“We will also look to reach consensus with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the draft. I will also hold talks with the PTI leadership in Islamabad, ” he stated.
Meanwhile, expressing his thoughts, Bhutto-Zardari said, “All the three parties [PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F] have reached the consensus on the judicial reforms.”
“We will table the constitution in the parliament at the right time. The judicial reforms will ensure the interpretation and defense of the constitution,” he stated.
“The PPP is having the clear intentions of bringing the judicial reforms,” Bhutto-Zardari added.
Furthermore, speaking about the constitutional amendment, the deputy prime minister said: “None of the parties have any of their own objectives in line with the constitutional amendment.”
