Urges caretaker govt to respect freedom of expression
ISLAMABAD: /DNA/ – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson strongly condemned the arrest of senior journalist and Bureau Chief of ABN News Islamabad Khalid Jameel in a midnight raid by the FIA at his house.
In a strong reaction to the detention of Bureau Chief ABN News, PTI spokesperson vehemently denounced FIA for violating the sanctity of senior journalist’s residence and arresting him in the dark of night.
He said that Pakistan is in the grip of the law of jungle as the state institutions are committing serious violations of the law.
PTI spokesperson rued that the honor, life, property and freedom of every citizen who dared to demand basic constitutional rights from the state were at stake.
He went on to say that only journalists, who were receiving charity from the state to spread and promote official narratives based on lies and accusations in the country, were acceptable to the government.
PTI spokesperson urged that the caretaker government should respect freedom of expression and communication instead of continuing the unconstitutional and undemocratic process of humiliating and silencing journalists.
He demanded that Khalid Jameel should be released instantly and dismissed the baseless case framed against him, besides shelving harassment of journalists forthwith.
