Punjab Minority Affairs Minister meets Federal Law Minister to discuss minorities' rights, interfaith harmony

ISLAMABAD, 05 JUN (DNA) — Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora met Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar here Friday to discuss issues related to minority rights, interfaith harmony, and the promotion of human rights in Pakistan.

During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on measures aimed at safeguarding the rights of minority communities and fostering greater religious harmony across the country. They also agreed to enhance cooperation between the Federal Government and the Government of Punjab to ensure the effective implementation of policies and initiatives benefiting minority groups.

Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing equal rights and opportunities to all citizens without discrimination. He emphasized that the protection of fundamental rights and the promotion of an inclusive society remain key priorities of the government.

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora welcomed the approval of the Child Marriage Restraint Act, describing it as an important step toward protecting vulnerable members of society. He also appreciated ongoing efforts to strengthen the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) and enhance its role in addressing issues faced by minority communities.

The two ministers agreed to continue working together to promote minority rights, strengthen interfaith harmony, and support initiatives aimed at building a more inclusive, tolerant, and rights-based society in Pakistan. DNA
