VSO celebrates International Volunteers’ Day 2021

ISLAMABAD, DEC 06 (DNA) – In the commemoration of International Volunteers’ Day, VSO Pakistan organized multiple community events to acknowledge the efforts of volunteers associated with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

Respectively, VSO Pakistan in collaboration with Punjab Emergency Service organized 5th Annual National Volunteer CERTs (Community Emergency Response Teams) Challenge, where total of 45 Volunteer Teams participated in 3-day Challenge from more than 16 districts of Pakistan including Lahore, Sahiwal, Narowal, Sargodha, Sialkot Warden, Jhelum, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Vehari, Nankana Sahib, Hafizabad, Gujranwala.

The event was organized at Emergency Services Academy Lahore from 1st to 3rd December 2021, the objective was to provide opportunity to CERT Volunteers for exhibiting Community Action for Disaster Response Skills including Mass Causality Incident (MCI), Light Search & Rescue, Basic Life Support & First Aid and Response to Fire and Water Emergencies.

Government of Pakistan recognized and acknowledged this event on Awards Ceremony held on 4th December 2021 by gracing the event with the presence of Mr. Farrukh Habib, Minister of State (MOS) for Information & Broadcasting.

VSO Pakistan Team also organized a ‘Tree Planting Activity” where National Volunteers participated and planted pinecone trees in Islamabad to contribute as a Climate Action Champions for Global Sustainable Goals including Life on Land, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production etc.
