ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host the first meeting of the Council of National Coordinators (CNC) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad from September 28–30, 2026, marking the first major engagement under Pakistan’s Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) for 2026–27.
The three-day meeting will be chaired by Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO and will bring together National Coordinators from all SCO Member States, along with representatives of the SCO Secretariat.
According to an official announcement, the National Coordinators will deliberate on a wide range of issues relating to SCO cooperation and coordination, including the programme of activities planned under Pakistan’s Chairmanship, preparations for upcoming SCO meetings and events, and other matters on the Organization’s agenda.
As Chair of the SCO CHS for 2026–27, Pakistan will pursue the Organization’s objectives under the theme “Turning Vision into Action: Connectivity, Innovation and Shared Prosperity.” Pakistan’s Chairmanship will focus on promoting greater connectivity, fostering innovation, enhancing economic cooperation, and strengthening people-to-people contacts, with the aim of translating the shared vision of Member States into practical and mutually beneficial initiatives.
Pakistan has said it will work closely with all Member States and the SCO Secretariat to advance these priorities and further strengthen cooperation within the Organization.
The CNC meeting is seen as an important initial engagement under Pakistan’s Chairmanship and will contribute to preparations for various high-level engagements and activities to be undertaken during the Chairmanship, including the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State, which Pakistan will host in August 2027.
The meeting underscores Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO’s founding principles and its active role in promoting regional cooperation, stability, and shared prosperity among Member States.
