Kurram: Clashes erupted between the miscreants and the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) personnel in Lower Kurram on Monday after a gun attack on the 64 vehicles, carrying relief items for the people of Kurram.
The gun attack left a driver injured and led to a worse traffic jam on the road, resulting in a long queue of vehicles.
Drivers of as many as 12 vehicles, however, managed to get out of the traffic mess.
Firing was still going on till last reports came in while miscreants also tried to torch some of the vehicles.
Despite the signing of a peace deal by warring factions, violence still erupts in the area as miscreants open fire to scuttle the deal.
On January 31, a senior government official trying to broker peace in Kurram came under a gun attack.
Upper Kurram Assistant Commissioner Abdul Manan was heading to Boshra village to persuade the warring sides to cease fire when his convoy was ambushed on the way.
He was seriously injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital on a cot.
Earlier, in January, Kurram District Deputy Commissioner Javed Allah Mehsud was also ambushed by gunmen in the Baggan area when unknown assailants opened fire on a convoy of government vehicles.
The deputy commissioner sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to the Lower Ali Zai hospital and was later shifted to Peshawar via helicopter for further treatment.
On January 17, the bodies of four missing drivers of the aid convoy were found in Urwali area of Lower Kurram, taking the death toll from an ambush on the convoy bringing supplies to the region to 10.
The ambush targeted a convoy of 33 vehicles, set to resupply local traders in the northwest Kurram with rice, flour and cooking oil, and two aid vehicles carrying essential medicines.
According to the police, the four deceased drivers were among the six abducted yesterday after the attack on the convoy in Bagan.
The bodies were shifted to the hospital for identification.
Later, police said that the bodies of the slain were identified and all four were the missing drivers and were shot with their hands tied on their back.
On January 1, 2025, Kurram grand jirga finally reached an agreement after both sides to the conflict signed a peace agreement.
