ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani shooter and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mohsin Nawaz has dedicated his national honour to the Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Long Range Rifle Association (PLRA), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, acknowledging his support for the growth of shooting sports in Pakistan.

Nawaz credited state institutions, the Government of Pakistan, the Cabinet Division and the Pakistan Sports Board for helping establish a structured pathway for shooters to compete internationally under Pakistan’s flag. He said the development of shooting facilities and official recognition of the sport have played a key role in its progress.

He highlighted the PLRA’s affiliation with the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations (ICFRA), which has given Pakistan formal representation in long-range rifle shooting at the global level for the first time.

Mohsin Nawaz said Pakistan has immense talent and can compete with the world’s best shooters through continued institutional support, strategic planning and athlete development. Having trained under the 2023 World Champion, he stressed that shooting requires discipline, mental strength and extensive training.

Nawaz also underscored the importance of collaboration with institutions such as the Pakistan Army and expressed his commitment to mentoring young shooters and helping build the next generation of talent.

Describing the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz as a symbol of responsibility and service, Nawaz said the future of shooting sports in Pakistan is bright and that sustained support from the government, the Pakistan Sports Board and Field Marshal Asim Munir will be vital in helping the sport reach greater heights internationally.
