LAHORE, Apr 03: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi here on Friday visited the historic Badshahi Mosque where he addressed congregants before Friday prayers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that it was a great honor for him to visit the historic mosque, recalling that prominent Muslim leaders, participants of the Islamic Summit Conference, and his martyred leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had also offered prayers there.
He said that law and order situation and governance challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were at a peak, adding that security forces were playing a vital role in restoring peace. He paid tribute to the armed forces leadership for their efforts in maintaining stability.
The Governor further said that Pakistan was playing an effective role on the diplomatic front amid evolving global circumstances. He credited President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for strengthening the country’s diplomatic standing.
He also appreciated the role of Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Khateeb of Badshahi Mosque Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad for promoting unity among the Muslim Ummah in Pakistan.
Earlier, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad hosted a luncheon in honor of Governor Kundi at his residence, which was attended by prominent scholars and representatives from different schools of thought.
