China backs Iran's stance, commits to supporting Tehran's security interests

TEHRAN, APR 16: The Iranian Foreign Minister says Tehran has sent a clear warning to the White House emphasizing its readiness to swiftly and decisively respond to any fresh military adventures by Israel that threaten Iran’s interests and security.

During a phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi late on Monday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated, “We have clearly warned the White House that in the event of the Israeli regime’s adventurism in repeating terrorist attacks against Iran’s interests and security, Tehran’s next response and action will be decisive, immediate, and extensive.”

On April 13, Tehran carried out an operation against Israel which involved dozens of drones and missiles. Iran’s military officials announced that certain Israeli military bases from the occupied Golan Heights to the Negev desert had been targeted and destroyed.

The military operation was in response to Israel’s deadly air raid on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, on April 1 in which seven Iranian military commanders were assassinated.

For his part, China’s top diplomat announced that he has informed the U.S Secretary of State about Beijing’s commitment to Iran’s “principled positions”.

“We have always supported the Islamic Republic of Iran’s fair demands in the Security Council, despite the obstacles posed by the U.S. administration and the double standards of Western Security Council members in condemning the actions of the Israeli regime,” Wang stated.

Iranian officials have repeatedly warned since Saturday that any further provocations by the Israeli regime against Iranian assets or personnel will be met with significantly greater force than witnessed on April 13.

Wang also underscored the strategic partnership between China and Iran, emphasizing Beijing’s respect for Tehran’s positions and status across all domains.
