HOUSTON, JUN 15: Germany thumped World Cup debutant Curacao 7-1 in its Group E match at the Houston Stadium on Sunday. Kai Havertz struck a brace, while there were six different goal-scorers to help Julian Nagelsmann’s side get off to an emphatic start.
Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown and Deniz Undav also got their names on the scoresheet.
Livano Comenencia scored Curacao’s first-ever goal in the World Cup when he levelled the scores in the 21st minute before Germany steamrolled the island nation.
